Hey guys, this is my first post about my first grow. The Nuts n Bolts: 32qt storage bin 4" spray paint line 1.5L Humidifier Inkbird ICH200 Humidity Controller BN Link Repeat Cycle Timer 120mm computer fan and micro screen on it (facing out as an exhaust) 12" LED light bar (not particularly bright) Spawn and Substrate 2*5lbs of manure substrate (North Spore) 5*1lbs bags of rye berry spawn (Shroom Supply) Current Situation Rye berry bags about 50% inoculated after 3 weeks 77.5 degrees with about 50% humidity Need to get my monotub ready and test run it a few times before adding substrate and inoculated-spawn Issue Will the microspore tape coverings be enough for FAE? The holes follow the North Spore monotub guidelines (minus I didn't use polyfil) which is: 2*2" holes per long side and, A 3" hole on the opposite fan side Other factors Repeat Cycle set at 5min on, 1 min off (for the exhaust fan) Humidity Controller set between 80 and 90% (starts when humidity drops to 80, stops when reached 90) At these current settings, the humidifier turns on once every 10 minutes and runs for about 90 seconds. Final Ask So will this be enough for FAE? I've done enough research that says this is fine, even that micropore is fine without an exhaust fan to bring air through. The same person who said that, also said you can always just add more holes if you need more FAE. So how can you tell (without purchasing a pricey CO2 reader), if you're FAE is sufficient? I heard if the stalks grow tall and thin - that's a good way to tell, but they kind of do that anyway. In your opinion, should I cut more holes or say screw it and go with polyfil? I don't like the bulkiness of polyfil, and to that end, how much of the space it takes away from the growing mushrooms - but I am willing to listen to collective reasoning from those with experience. Thoughts? I got about a week or so to decide.
