Yea, I wouldn't touch a fruit without gloves that I was going to culture or send to be cultured. That bad boy has a higher purose than the dinner plate when I get next to him.

The reishi I already have on agar and is recovering well on the P:1 plate. I didn't bother taking a sample of this one though. If John doesn't want it for some reason I will go back out and get another fruit to work with. I only took what I needed and left the rest to live out it's life cycle.

You'll need a few of these if you want to mail a fresh specimen.

You'll also need to overnight it because your recipient will need to get it on agar a.s.a.p.
I layer the bottom of the box with cold packs after lining it with a black trash bag. Then I place the specimen into the bag in the box and layer another set of cold packs on top. Next I lay a plastic bag and fill the remainder of the box with packing paper. If you are not as cheap as me you can also put the pack and specimens into a zip up travel cooler. The ones from the 80's people put a six pack into. Problem with todays package was that it wat too big. I sent out a pound of Laetiporus and 7 pounds of reishi. ......
