If they had holes I'd leave them. But as far as the drying fruits I had a few like that which were just fine, especially after the short soak prior to cooking. Wondering myself about the quality of them, I began to notice many a posts including online vendors for fresh morels that showed morels that had a bit of drying going on. With the time lapse SomeGuy showed me, I'd guess depending on weather patterns a fruit could exhibit signs of drying several times in its life only to be rehydrated by new rains. But I am merely hypothesizing.

I've pick ones that were dry before, lol. If they seem to have dried and rehydrated a few times or show signs of mold or rot then I'd leave them.

Nothing wrong with field dried morels IMO. You'll know if they are to far gone :) I kept some in the fridge for too long  but I cooked them up anyway to see how they would turn out.
To my surprise they were still tasty.

I left a bunch behind because I wasn't sure. Oh well.

We are going to go fool around a bit tomorrow. The little ones want to try. :)

One out of six so far is showing myc growth. The others have a really pretty rose colored bacteria.
I should be able to get a nice clean transfer off of the one though.
