have you ever had pet frogs before? the reason i ask is i keep african dwarfs, one common cause of death people dont think about is overeating and choking... also some kinds of frog are cannibalistic, so be warned in small tanks.

being said, frogs make great pets, and are much smarter than people think

Today I was sent 3 more toads, same breed 2012 Kermit came from. (so they're 'siblings' though they are not called like that with toads)
    I proudly present you:
    The second guy, Gonzo:

    The big girl, Ellie:

And the smaller girl (still bigger than Gonzo and Kermit :)), Sue:

So beautiful, all of them, gorgeous and lovely.

Funny how much personality a toad has. I've played with wild toads all my life and have a deep respect for them as creatures. They were not poisonous where I lived. Enjoy!

Fed them again today, the girls are supercool, the boys are a bit shy. Specially Kerm is still shitting his pants and loves hiding :)

I feed them crickets, zophobas, locusts, argentinian woodland roaches. They are also dusted with mineral and vitamin powder.

More pictures of the past 2 weeks.
On the first picture you see the toad magic! Very cristalline, pure consciousness.

Awesome thread. Keeping your own psychedelic creature must be quite a trip in itself. Kudos to you Captain :hatsoff:

crickets are uber easy to keep alive, frogs enjoy the hunt... it the bugsong that drives me nuts...

but put them in a plastic bin or aquarium with a screen on it, toss in a section of cardboard egg crate and a piece of potato...
but the girls look like some happy toads

how do you get the secretions...? do you have to irrate or annoy them in any way to get them to realease, kinda a self defence mechanism?

I am envious, but you, alas, are so far away. Your weekends sound peaceful and conducive to good spiritual happenings.

    The Toad and the Jaguar

A Field Report of Underground Research on a Visionary Medicine
    Bufo alvarius and 5-methoxy-dimethyltryptamine

    [IMG]Ralph Metzner, Ph.D.
With forewords by Stanislav Grof, MD. and Charles Grob, MD
Published by Green Earth Foundation and Regent Press

In this monograph, I relate findings from more than 30 years of experiences and observations with this substance, in various user groups and individuals, both in the US and in Europe. I use the term underground in referring to the explorations with these substances, in the sense that they were hidden – out of respect for the restrictions and prohibitions of mainstream culture.

These are ethnographic field reports: first-hand observations from anunderground sub-culture, accompanied by the experiences of a selected number of participant-observers. It is important to recognize that in research with these and other so-called psychedelic or entheogenic substances, one cannot limit the observations and reflections solely to their physical and psychological effects. As most of the people cited here emphasize, the experiences with these substances at times can go far beyond their physical and psychological effects into the deepest and highest dimensions of our existence, both the cosmic and the spiritual. – RM

Yeah, got the book sent from Ralph and will provide it for the weekends.
Sadly to protect the toads he only mentions them on 3 sides. Its mostly about synthetic 5MeO.
