I hope to grow this strain soon. What temps work best for grain jars, bag colonization and also fruiting? @FallenOak or Muskie

It performs well within the parameters outlined by Stamets for me.

    Spawn Run:

    • Incubation Temperature: 70-75* F (21-24* C)
    • Relative Humidity: 95-100
    • Duration: 10-14 days
    • CO2: 5000-40,000 ppm
    • Light Requirements: n/a
    Primordia Formation:

    • Initiation Temperature: 50-60* F (10-15.6* C)
    • Relative Humidity: 95-100
    • Duration: 3-5 days
    • CO2: 500-700 ppm
    • Fresh Air Exchanges: 5-8 per hour
    • Light Requirements: 500-1000 lux
    Fruitbody Development:

    • Temperature: 65-75* F (18-24* C)
    • Relative Humidity: (85) 90-95
    • Duration: 4-5 days
    • CO2: 500-1000 ppm
    • Fresh Air Exchanges: 5-8 per hour
    • Light Requirements: 500-1000 lux
    Cropping Cycle:

    • 14 days apart
@FallenOak probably has some good pointers on the indoor growing. He's the one growing them big enough to bear hunt with a branch. I just work with what happens outdoors!

Fruiting seems to go best in the 60s with anything above 70 seeing a drop off in quality. They are sensitive to humidity and fresh air exchange. A drop off in either results in aborted sections of fruit or coral looking things. Direct misting will cause bruising, and they just don't handle excessive water in general.

Thanks Muskie! I'm thinking of trying the coffee blend supp as a side by side test with just bran. But I can't imagine anyone doing better the FallenOak.

For sure. I've only grown it on totems and on HWFP supplemented with wheat bran outside.

This one did ok on wheat bran.

This is the source. It was on a Red Maple.

Do you do anything with the blocks or conditions after first harvest to promote a clean 2nd flush?

Good question, just make sure to harvest completely, not leaving any bit of fruiting body at the puncture site to get moldy.

Unsupplemented sterilized sawdust spawn bags that I let go too far, decided to make fresh spawn and fruit these bags as is. Sterilizing the bags almost guarantees moster fruits IME, just wish I had an autoclave that could fit 100 or so production bags!

They aren't all that perfect, the pasteurized bags make fruits about half that sized on average ;)

Here are some pics of our normal pasteurized production bags from today, 10% supp. Took about a week longer to start fruiting and the fruits are clearly not gonna get as large as the sterilized bags.

Why do you think the tops of the fruits for lack of a better term mush out/abort?
