    IMG_0159.JPG IMG_0158.JPG Hi Guys,
My Black Poplar wooden plug that I placed into my Petri dish took off really fast with vigorous white mycelium but at the end of the week there is a green tinge through most of the dish. Is this s contaminant or characteristic of black poplar ( piopino) mycelium Growth? See images.
    Cheers JF

IMG_0165.JPG Well as an update (see photo), definitely not a characteristic but a very contaminated plug and wedge which I acquired a few years back. Anyone got a 'clean' Black Poplar spore print?

Probably not s question for this forum.
    Anyway peace to all

RIP. Death by green ninja... aspergillus it seems. If it turns green its too late its spreading spores send your project outside to continue fruiting there or add it to your compost pile. If you are quick you can spray it with hydrogren peroxide and you may be able to delay it. Don't try to cut it off it'll go deeper.

No worries Electro, nice to hear from someone. Seems like mycotek has quietened down the past few years. I reckon this ones definitely for the compost. Initially it looked so promising. Oh well that's life :)

No worries Redcat, most of my cultures over the years have been great. The ones I start myself from spore prints that is. Got some great looking plates going at the moment, GT, chicon nindo, ATL #7 and a Pan Cyan. Might post these in a grow log for some eye porn for the great members on this forum.
Sorry to hear you tend to get green cultures lately :(
    Cheers JF
