    Hey folks,

Looking for some pointers before starting my weekend project. Trying to avoid asking dumb questions but still feel a bit lacking in knowledge.

So, I have a a sgfc full of cakes going and doing it's thing but I have about 12 more brf jars in various stages of finishing/consolidating.

Have grain spawning as well but it's been cold and going a little slow (I think).

That being said I grabbed some 6qt tubs to try some mini bulk runs with crumpled brf.

Asked a lot of this in other threads but just wanting to make sure.

When searching the internet's for dubtub teks I tended to see lots of different things but mostly just wrapping tub to let it colonize, unwrappig and putting another tub on that to fruit. But wasn't sure on details. No holes for ae? Misting and fanning at all? How often?

Was planning coir/verm. Assuming you shoot for at least 3-4" deep? So at least 4 brf jars crumbled?

Ive seen some folks throwing smaller tubs into dubtubs and going that route too. I haven't looked into the finer points of dubtubs other than holes with polyfill (misting fanning unknown to me yet) but would that be a better route for small amounts?

Will go larger runs once my grain game is running faster.

Links to where I missed these answers works as well as taking time to type anything.

    Thanks all

I have not personally done dubs before , but if we’re going to today ....
I would probably use the lid it came with and drill Like two 1” holes in the lid and tight stuff with polyfil for colonization
Saran Wrap the lid to the tub and roll with it
You would also be ok with the lid and no Saran no holes no poly
When ready to fruit add the other tub with poly for the lid
I would probably want a strip of duck tape or a few zip ties on the long side to act as a hinge , so I could open to mist and fan as needed when fruiting
Not really any tek .... just kinda how I think I would go about winging it

Thanks. I guess my main issue is not knowing how the pieces fit together to wing it with any correctness. Since I've never done a sub/casing/chamber.

Looking around I see multiple answers to this conflicting.

So I have my 6.5 qt tub that had 5 brf jars and about 4 qt of Coco coir and verm. Been doing it's thing about 11 days. It has pulled back from the sides and looks colonized all the way down, but the top, which I had out a thin layer of Coco/verm is still working it's way through.

Do you wait until the entire thing is fully colonized including top layer before fruiting? I see a lot of pics where they are very white on top and some like mine where people say go for it.

First go at any sort of tub so looking for general thoughts. Will snag a pic if it helps but trying to open it as little as possible ATM.

    Let it colonize 100%

It was all the way down the sides, just not the very top of the added coir. Had already threw into fruiting but will for next one.
