A lot of things come down to genetics. Could try isolating for the trait you are looking for.

Could be growing conditions. Need more detail to try to aid. I'd say try to vary your grow environment, change your bulk sub formula, or work on isolated genetics and see what influences best.

I agree, I'd develop a strong isolate on agar for bigger fruits then clone the best ones. MS inoculation is a crapshoot IME

Mad thing is for big fruits I know loads of folks see the biggest fruits ever from any isolate or grow they have done coming from the spent substrate thrown outside, the mycelium that survive that and thrive grow absolute monster fruits, way bigger than any they ever got from it indoors.

Momma nature got that FAE down to a t :hatsoff:

    Genetics plays a big role.
Also, I always seemed to have bigger fruits when growing outdoors, so I'm sure lots of FAE also may play an important role.
Later flushes usually have less, but larger fruits.

If you have em, get em going ! As Mainframe rightly said they are slow at first ..psilocybe cyanescens. But they require almost no clean work once you have a live culture.
Mine where started from wild stembutts on cardboard that was already growing black mould on it with no problems.
But I'm now expanding my spawn at a rate of 1:1 and it picks up speed quite quick after a few times, no incubation just in a cold wardrobe. 20191121_101703.jpg
20191130_183928.jpg . I do pasturise my spawn materials purely to be on the safe side as I'm working indoors at the mo but this may well be unnecessary and I believe is not needed once moved to the outside bed ....while your expanding just crack on with some other projects. Until you have enough spawn to lay your beds.

I just bought alder wood chips and started psil cyan cultures so I'm on my way. They fascinate me more than any other mushroom except for albino PE, my all time fave!
