I recently did some sectoring, and the new growth on over half the plates looks like single isolates. The other remaining have almost clear mixed with white mycelium is the clear sections just a different genetic? One of my sectors that looks good vs the bad in pics. 20200923_112846.jpg 20200923_112807.jpg

do you store your agar upside-down? Looks like maybe moisture landed on that but it seemed like it had nice rhizomorphic growth going... have heard you need like 3 or 4 transfer before you see the awsome rhizomorphic strands but I never made it this far lol I'm like a week behind you so this is good to see for i may encounter the same issues... worst case let it grow out for another day or two and if you have a spare agar take a sector from that nice looking growth and transfer it to see if it does anything?

Ok, I store them all upside down. I might just let it grow more and see what happens. Then maybe do a transfer or just throw it out since I have alot of them. I need to go through again and transfer some rhizo and get rid of the tomentose.

If u transfer from a plate from one spot it’s closer to an isolate unless u take from dif spots on one u have drop spores .there will be a ridge line between the two dif genes running into each other where they exchange genes.I will try and find a pic

I did do that, took multiple cuts from 20 plates all different sectors. Now I have 40 plates with somewhat isolates but some still look like multiple sectors.

I think u will be happy with it .the the strongest sector will win out on eating the grain so will end up with mostly one iso even if u don’t have a true iso yet u are def close enuf bud.

Thankyou ok, I wasn't sure if It could be multiple sectors. Half my plates look like single isolates maybe anyways, so ill use those and continue to sector the others out.

Never thought of that! So I may be on to something with my small g2g jar idea to sector out baddies but my agar game is starting to get on point!

Not saying they arnt isolates feng . Just that if u do have a few on a plate it’s ok the stronger will win out on grain .your plates look great . If they all look like those your agar work is great.

That makes sense, I would just keep isolating for fun, I have plenty of others to work off. I'm glad its going smoothly for my first attempts. The isolation box really helps alot.
