How about putting ice cubes on the perlite to cool the temperature? What about adding the occasional hot steamy water glass to sgfc to increase humidity? Lastly, I wasn’t having luck with my sgfc so I put the perlite in a monotub. Put the cakes on perlite with foil of course. Are these good or bad ideas? Polyfill in top holes nothing in small holes going around bottom every 2 inches.
I just took it out of the sgfc and put it in a monotub. I thought it was getting too much air, not enough humidity...
Just keep misting the perlite and the cakes and give them plenty of air 3x a day... it can be tricky, but you have to keep spraying them too! I've had more success with monotubs than brf cakes, they can be sensitive
try resoaking them if you aren't getting any growth, they may have dried up on you, I've had it happen.
Thanks. Amazingly I have 3 of 4 cakes fruiting like crazy! The forth cake was waterlogged and I threw it out. It’s my first successful grow. I have a question. How easy is bulk compared to cakes?
I've had much better luck with bulk than cakes. Read up, watch some videos, give it a try. I started out with a smaller tub (39qts) my first few tries just to get a feel for it.
I ordered sterilized grain and sub the first few times just out of fear of contamination from my inexperience. Overall cost goes up significantly. But overall mushroom production goes up too.
Thank u. I have a shoebox tub I’m about to try to fruit. Do I really just invert the lid and mist and fan a few times a day?
It literally cost me 700$ to get this far. First I bought many of the wrong types of products ( straw, wrong size jars, etc) and I just FINALLY bought a good pressure cooker. I’ve been steam sterilizing for the past 3 mths. Lots of contamination problems. Hey what do u think about injecting water in the cake mid grow?
Mist the walls and fan... I started using a small fan after misting. I did the same thing buying the wrong supplies... patience is key tho!
