I just want to hear some opinions. I attached a pic of my monotub. Will the air exchange be fine with the set-up I currently have or should I attach small 3 in fans for air flow? I'm wondering if the fogger will keep it too humid or become stagnant.

Probably become stagnant like my first monotub. That was even without a humidifier, I'd say just punch holes in the bottom to let the pooled water out and leave the lid on. But I'm only on my second monotub so yano.. pinch of salt and all that

Yea, I was thinking about doing that and having some clear tubes for drainage. I will have to do some planning.

Ah nice. I was thinking of doing that with my bulk tub, which brings me to another question. I've never bulked. I have a brick of coco coir and cow manure compost and seed starter for the casing. Its balanced with gypsum for ph. Plan to pasteurize it all and shred brf cakes into the substrate. Does that sound legit? What tek did you use?

I wouldn't over complicate it. Just Coco coir (500grams) and vermiculite (100grams) pasteurised for 5 hours brother, no additives. And yea shredding brf cakes is fine but I prefer to use grains that I buy on Amazon. I tried brf 2 times and got super frustrated from the result, it worked but not as well as agar to grain, then grain to sub.. best results possible, from that order. But I'm still a learner. I honestly eyeballed everything, the only thing I needed to be more cautious of was being sterile. Best advise I can give you once you have you tubs set, is forget about it for 2 weeks, do not open it, do not breath in its direction don't even look at it wrong and best of luck. I would recommend going onto (odesy) and look up (chronicles of bod) I consider him my teacher, and a good one too. From no pour agar to non modified mono tubs, how to prepare subs, how to hydrate grains.. everything you need to know to get started, he has it in a neat 10 min vid, for each Tek of course. No messing about just straight advise and with the basics needed, with the best results. I owe him a lot for the info IV leeched off him. He super nice guy too, helps with small questions I have

Well that sounds good then. It's definitely a little scary being new to it. Things do seem real complicated but as it goes it starts to make sense. I'll stick with the coir and Verm. I have those and they are both neutral so that makes sense. That's a good idea not to even breathe in that direction ha. I'm going to check these chronicles out. I appreciate all the advice. I have like 5 more days tops on my first cakes so I will let you know how it goes man!

The way I see it the more you add, the more of a possibility to add contam. Become confident in basic Tek and keeping it sterile b4 moving to advanced teks. I'v had spores since November. Only harvested one shoebox and it flushed several times. I'll be honest I love working on agar just as much as picking my mushies

Im not sure what you mean. I just started from scratch, got myself some spores. I wanted to see how they germinate. (I learned i wouldn't be able to see this in the grains) And the best way to see spore germination is on agar. I got to see all the different types of mycelium on the 2D surface. I learned bods no pour agar and I have 100% clean dishes. Not 100% clean transfers but shit happens, all of the time. Then I wanted to pick the strongest/coolest looking myc. (Create my own culture) from there on everything was so basic because I learned agar first. And the time I spent working on agar, I learned the next few steps. In my mind they love rye grain the most. So I bought it on Amazon. I knew they liked coir and verm to fruit from. From there I studied deeper into those teks alone whilst working on agar.

I grew weed b4, I was told it's absolutely nothing like growing weed, so I learned the steps.. and focused intensely on how it behaved during those steps.. just like any living thing in life, you give it attention, care, food keep it clean and it will grow. It's not just for you to trip balls. I also believe if you don't give it that respect it'll kick ur ass when u eat it

I also believe the energy you put into is what you'll get out of it. Far east philosophical mindset type of thing. What I mean is, I haven't looked into agar yet so I didn't know if it was a solution you can make or you just order it? Basically, what is afar in your opinion. I attached a pic. Not sure if this is mycelium or some type of mold. It was an experiment. I prepared the rye grain myself and used spores I collected from my first grow. I used brf cakes.

Exactly. Put positive energy in and it's exactly what you will get out of it. Yea I just bought dorito salsa jars, agar is just jelly you use to grow out mycelium, ensures that its clean and sterile. And you can see the types of mycelium that look good. cut that piece out and put into new agar jar, Nope.. looks like clean mycelium brother. I strongly recommend agar work, it'l give you confidence seeing a clean jar of mycelium on agar. Look up bods no pour agar 16200543663192056995738502146362.jpg 1620054335666428113386227637739.jpg 16200542374554340777120003763231.jpg

Put the jelly with myc into your grains. This is the best way to innoculate grains. Agar can be made at home very easily. PDA and MEA. Are the only agars I use. Super easy to make.

Even got a lil pin on my agar, makes me think it has strong genetics.

You can see through the agar and pick the best looking mycelium, or find contaminations. And then if contaminated you can clean it by doing transfers to new agar dishes. 16200547250536391004558034053771.jpg
