No need to wait after each flush. Once you have picked all the mushrooms and remaining undeveloped pins/aborted primordia you simply proceed with the dunk and return to the fruiting environment and likewise the third.

It may be best to start new threads for your questions rather than posting in older threads such as this. At this point the thread is more of a reference than an active thread. Most of the original participants are no longer active on the site.

Okay so you dunk and roll, harvest, dunk, harvest, dunk, and harvest again? Wow I did not realize this was the case, I figured after you harvest the first round, that cake is now done for and garbage. Thank you so much for this info!

Yes you will typically see diminishing yield returns each flush but sometimes larger individual fruits.

Wow that's great news thank you! And for the 2nd and 3rd dunks, do you leave them in water for the same amount of time as the first dunk (14-24 hrs)?

I'd err on the short side but yes.

    Hi Ya’ll

This is my absolute first time ever trying anything like this. But thanks to your über clear instructions, it looks like its going okay so far! The colonisation was going a little slow (I inoculated around 1st Dec), but I think thats just due to my chilly house. I’ve moved them upstairs (to catch the rising heat), and think as they progress, they have accelerated in growth anyway:

Hopefully they’ll be hot to trot in a few weeks.

I’ve got the gear for the SGFC, but I’ve seen some others knocking around with oxygen stones in water baths and pc fans used to draw air through. Is it worth the extra fannying on, or can I expect pretty good results from holes, perlite, misting and fanning?

    So everthing was looking swell:

And then I foolishly went out and left the door open, and my absolute cunt of a cat went in and appears to have tried to crawl under it, toppling everything:

The lid was still on, so I don’t believe there is risk of external contamination, but will the sheer shock or the contact with the perlite cause any major issues? I’ve carefully reset everything and given it a good misting and fanning. Is this a lost cause now? Do I need to have a look on some cat skinning forums? I hear tell there is more than one way

BRF Cakes should be used for outdoor Cubensis grows. Animals will eat any grain spawn so cakes are best, NOTHING wants to eat vermiculite! I've moved on to bulk teks but am doing a dozen cakes for this springs outdoor cultivation attempt. I'm gonna dig a square patch of land and line it with plastic. Then I'll add the cakes broken up in bags dumped into the hole. I'll pack the mycelium down, then add a top layer of coir verm gypsum and add another thin layer of verm and hydrated horticultural lime to raise the PH to around 7, perfect for cubes and contams hate lime.
Was wondering if I could fill the patch with whole BRF cakes but I think busting them up would be best.

Question: at the beginning of this tutorial, one of the first things is to make some holes in the jar lids. Is this purely to allow inoculation? I was wondering about covering the holes with high temp silicone which you could insert the needle through but would keep out any contamination. Or an alternative, putting some parafilm over the holes? Or is this kind of thing just not necessary?

I would think either would work just fine, as long as the silicone used is food grade. Self healing injection ports are commonly used, I see no problem with either of these alternatives. If your using a LFH or SAB it's not 100% nessasary, but you can NEVER be too sterile.
