Well, the sun was shining and the birds were singing so I got out to do my lawns and work on my garden. Morels in the burn pile!!! RD
Hah, I just went out in the dark with my little flashlight and collected them. Took me all night to change my mind about them.
awesome! I haven't found any yet Looks like a couple little cup fungus hiding out under that one. I wish I could hide in the shade of a morel
thanks guys. I just read part of that morel paper I mentioned (it's not the one posted here all ready, waiting for that one still), This collection of Morchella fits nicely somewhere in the 23 !?!?! species now known from North America. GRRRR So many morel hunters are going to get really poopy when they learn the news that their systems and processes for identifying Morchella will no longer stand up. "It's a 'yellow' morel, no wait, now it's grey, shit...what....obsolete ?!?!?! BAH!
arent these your first morels RD? sorry if i am mistaken, but i recall you mentioning youve never found them? in either case theyre a very nice find. enjoi them! as for all this morel classification.... im taking a stand and saying FUCK IT! a morel is a morel is a morel. im starting to think theyre not actually breaking the genus down into species, rather into "strains" like they did to cubes. i think morels are just very variable! lol.
These aren't my first morels, I found some last year in one of the neighboring tree farms. I vaguely remember some long-past Mr. Right showing them to me, but I don't count those
Look, they are on sale. http://campaign.r20.constantcontact...tZma-ayz5FrOq5O4JpunhloTUVX89oAasd5hABhbBJ7c=
49$ a pound?!?!? christ almighty pot hunters, are they really worth that much? I had to drown 'em in booze and butter to make them worth eating.
really? There are a few I like better, but there are many I like less I'd pay...$15/lb, I reckon. Compared to some mushrooms, $49/lb is cheap.....if you know what I mean and those expensive ones don't taste very good at all
My dog finally got her sutures out yesterday so we took a short walk into the woods. Had to turn back because she was running off all her pent up energy. Poor girl. But I did find a few morels found six picked 2 will go back after the rains to scout out more.
See, this is exactly what I hate about you Oregonians. Always bragging about the mushrooms you find. Posting beautiful pictures of the countryside and telling stories of all your interesting adventures. Seriously though, very cool. I hope the dog is doing ok. It always shocks me how fast they recover.
