some puffballs I found today.

    A well aged puffball is natures smoke grenade.

    ...or so it seem to me as a kid. We loved to find one ready to explode!

    We have these in my area also. I will start looking.

    Rains a only a few weeks off to kick of the mushroom season here. Getting excited :pushup:

    I started to water my field a week ago to give a bit of pre-watering before the rains come to green things up a bit now that the heat has gone. It's very dry here in the summer.

    Walking around the property yesterday I was delighted to see many different mushrooms already popping up.
    I'll need some help ID'ing some of them but here are some more puffballs :) and I'll post some of the others in a different thread.

    The fall season is here! Let's get picking :mush1:

    I assume it's another Calvatia of some kind???

    Pretty sure it a Purple Puffer. Let one of them mature in the field. If it explodes in a purple cloud of amazement, then it is. I'm 99% sure it's Calvatia Cyathiformis.
