I used to wet trim when i first started out growing with satisfactory results but always felt the end product could be better. There was always that ´hay´ smell during drying that lingered until the buds had been cured properly. The way it gets done now is to chop the whole plant at the base during the last dark period and hang it un-trimmed at 60-70f and 55-65% humidity. It took 9 days to get the plant to a point where the plant feels dry on the outside but there is still some pliability to the branches. At this point all big fan leaves are removed and branches cut. Branches with sugar leaf still intact are put into wine-boxes along with a boveda 62% pack for another 7 days in a room kept at 50% humidity and then buds are removed from the branch and placed into glass jars with a hygrometer where they will be burped daily until i´m satisfied with the feel and smell of the herb....should take about 4-6 weeks. I´ll manicure a small amount for a weeks smoking but the rest sits in a jar with sugar leaf intact. Those little leaves that curl up over the calyxs protect the resin glands and help delicate terpenes keep their pungency. After only a few days in glass the smell is incredible. When you crack the lid it´s like warm coffee sponge cake with lemon icing, and when you break a nug open you get the strong fuel and earthy aromas slapping you round the face. Lots of other aromas going on that i can´t even describe. Lots of pleasure just inhaling the aroma from the jar! Smokes like a dream and burns to a clean white ash. Smooth, creamy, earthy coffee on the inhale and then the coating of the tongue with that diesel, sour lemon funk on the exhale that lingers for a while. Really pleasurable to smoke which usually means i end up wasted from taking too many tokes! One of lifes problems i don´t mind lol. The high is typical indica, heavy behind the eyes and top of the head and very narcotic. It puts me out before i can make it to bed. Final weight is about 85 g taking into account the sugar leaf still on the bud.
