Hello there everyone! So this is my first year really trying to get out there early and start trying to find some good edibles and hopefully some fun ones too! Are there any beginner hints or tips I should remember while I'm out? I've gotten decent at ID'ing a few different species I've seen throughout the last year but like I said this is my first time hunting for the table. All and any help is greatly appreciated! I'm so excited spring and mushy season is finally here!!

Hard to say with so little info. Morel season should be starting up. Always be 110% sure before eating any mushroom. Dont hesitate to post here for ids. Good luck and happy hunting

So I've positively found chanterelles, a ton of late fall oysters, dryad's saddle, a few different puffballs, and thankfully (kind of) I have found a number of deadly galerinas which are so much more abundant than I expected which is kinda scary! At least I know what they look like for certain now though. But most of those are really easy to identify. Morels, chanterelles, bolettes and oviods are on the top of my list for hoping to find this season!!

Here's a bunch of random pics I found on my phone, got more at home on the PC. Here goes my guesses at IDing in order of pics (hopefully) IMG_20190126_174600.jpg I know these aren't oysters but I found them the same day I found the huge flush of oysters on the base of a dying tree. IMG_20190111_162627.jpg Next I believe these to be flamulina ventelupe (probably spelled wrong) IMG_20190106_094504.jpg not sure what these were either but holy crap they were wicked! Had little reddish droplets coming out of the pore surface IMG_20181103_102744.jpg IMG_20181103_102819.jpg Good ol pear-shaped puffballs that I find EVERYWHERE! IMG_20181005_103545.jpg I believe these are ringless honey mushrooms but not 100% IMG_20180824_152955.jpg These almost fooled me as being an edible one but later found them to be the green-spored leopota (again probably spelled wrong) but wow were these things huge! IMG_20180629_145838.jpg IMG_20180629_145858.jpg heres some nice black staining polypore IMG_20180603_085141.jpg i always find plenty of dryad's saddle or pheasant back IMG_20180505_100615.jpg heres the scary prolific deadly galerinas I found in the woods by my house all through even the winter months IMG_20180214_082928.jpg IMG_20180214_082954.jpg and last but not least Im pretty sure these are dead man's fingers....or dog poo growing out of the ground hahaha IMG_20180214_081055.jpg

So I've got some really awesome looking mushrooms that have been growing out of a stump (sadly not sure what kind of wood it is) I have in my backyard. Thankfully I've remembered to take pictures almost everyday so everyone can see it's growth. Today is the first day I got a glimpse of the gills cuz the vail was still completely covering the gills so I'm not 100% sure on the exact color. My guess on identification is one of these two, pholiota aurivella (golden pholiota) or pholiota squarrosoides. I am very curious about this one since it's growing right here at home, and based on what I found in my field guide these might be edible! Any help on identification would be greatly appreciated!! I'll continue to post updated pics as they grow more! Sorry ahead of time for the large number of pics that all look very similar, I was just trying to get as many good angles as I could. Thanks again!! Is it maybe because I'm putting the pics in the thread as a thumbnail? Should I try using a full image, might make a difference? Also from your knowledge how do you personally feel about eating mushrooms in that genus? My field guide doesn't recommend it due to some reports of gastrointestinal upset.

I personally do not eat pholiota and especially do not reccomend it with out a 100 per cent id on the species.

As for the pics... i dont know. I think my devices are just dumb lol

Here's a few more pics after almost 2 days of straight rain, working on taking a spore print now but some seem to have already dropped on top of the other caps. Looks to be a brownish color but the caps are super slimy so its hard to say for sure.

Fry, I appreciate your help! I won't be trying these even if they turn out to be an edible species just because I'd rather not chance having an unpleasant experience. Sorry my pics are having problems. I hope others are able to see them okay.
