Hello everyone I’m new to the myco world and just recently infested mushrooms created by the man himself mycotek.. I fell in love with the feeling and want to learn how to grow my own.

So my question is where should I start on the forum? Any stickies I can read up on to get a base of knowledge? I started to look but was quickly confused due to most of the posts being between advanced growers so I was lost lol.

    Thanks in advance everyone

Start here. Learn the abbreviations and it will make reading easier. These arent all the abbreviations but its a good place to start.https://mycotek.org/index.php?threads/416/

Be honest with yourself about what your goals are. Do you just want cubensis ? Is edibles what you want ? Perhaps a strong wood lover ? This will keep you focused and in one direction. If you want Portabellas then i wouldnt steer you to PF Tek..

So tell us what you would like to grow and we'll get you going.

Def like they said check the abbreviations threada out and read through the "myco teks" forum. Lots of beginner stuff in that one. :)

Yea, I started it a little less than a year before you joined the site. I have had a busy few years learning to juggle everything in my life with that on top of it all. :brider:

Is there a specific online cultivation guide which is generally considered the best guidelines for a first time grower? I have stumbled upon several but am debating which to follow. They generally seems similar, but do have differences. This seems pretty legit... https://mycotek.org/index.php?threads/122/

What kind of mushroom(s) do you want to grow ? The PF Tek is best for cubensis. If thats what youre looking to grow then PF Tek is a good place to start.

Its good to focus on one at the beginning. Getting a culture wont be the hard part. You're going to have to learn how to prepare bulk spawn and a few other things. I saw a guy on youtube that makes morel patches by using fresh morels to make a slurry and pouring it wherever he wants them to grow. He was using morels grown from previous slurry made patches.
Did you buy any books or dvd's yet to help you along ?
